SEND Teaching Assistant – KS2 (PMLD, SLD & ASC)
Location: L5 area of Liverpool
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30 am – 3:30 pm
Contract: Long-term September
Are you passionate about supporting children with profound & multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), severe learning difficulties (SLD), and autism spectrum conditions (ASC)?
We are seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join a supportive KS2 class in a specialist school setting. This role requires a caring and proactive individual who can provide essential support to pupils with complex learning needs, ensuring they receive a nurturing and structured educational experience.
Key Responsibilities:
✔️ Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with PMLD, SLD, and ASC
✔️ Assist with personal care, mobility support, and medical needs (training provided if required)
✔️ Support pupils’ communication, sensory, and learning development using a range of strategies (e.g., PECS, Makaton, sensory-based learning)
✔️ Work closely with teachers and therapists to implement individualized learning plans
✔️ Foster a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment
Requirements:
✅ Experience working with children with PMLD, SLD, or ASC (desirable but not essential)
✅ A compassionate and patient approach
✅ Strong communication and teamwork skills
✅ Willingness to assist with personal care and additional needs
✅ Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, Health & Social Care) or a willingness to undergo training
