The role
Auxiliary Technicians provide the front-line technical expertise and day to day work coordination in Substation Auxiliary systems.
You will
- Inspect, operate and maintain the Transmission Substation Auxiliary services such as Low voltage switchboards and switchgear, 110/48vDC battery systems, Standby generators.
- Work closely with Substation Maintenance teams building strong working relationship to assist Operations and Maintenance Management in coordinating and delivering all aspects of inspection, repairs and maintenance activities within the specific discipline.
- Take responsibility for hands-on management of a wide range of high value, Network critical electrical assets.
- Interpret and analyse various forms of inspection data from both internal and external sources, taking ownership and management for remediation, rectification and or replacement of key components to ensure the ongoing safe and efficient operation of the Transmission network.
- Provide accurate recording of completed work done also identification and escalation of developing and emergent trends in asset defects and failures.
You have
- An electrical apprenticeship or similar qualification (SVQ Level 3), Electrical Technician or equivalent experience with some mechanical knowledge would be an advantage.
- The ability to coach and mentor less experienced colleagues.
- Ability to independently supervise non-routine and complex tasks.
- A full understanding of the IET Wiring Regulations found within BS 7671 - 18th edition.
- Experience with electrical inspection and testing. (C&G 2391 or EAL equivalent is desirable) and the ability to fault find using drawings and schematics.
