Summary
We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Cardiff to assist with the appointment of a Residential Childcare Officer to work in a residential care setting.
We have both regular shifts (37 hours per week) and bank shifts available. Please note that we don't offer sponsorship, and the worker should be able to work full time without restrictions. We would need 5 years work references checked out before you start the shifts.
Rate of Pay: £13.63 - £17.80 per hour
Summary:
As a Residential Childcare Officer, you will play a vital role in providing direct care and support to children and young people aged 6 to 18 in a residential home setting. Working under the guidance of senior staff, you will contribute to a safe, nurturing, and structured environment that promotes well-being, personal development, and positive outcomes for young people.
Responsibilities:
Provide high-quality care in line with children's individual needs, rights, and cultural identity.
Support children in personal, emotional, educational, and social development.
Advocate for children's needs and rights, promoting self-advocacy and independence.
Support educational plans, including homework help and attendance at school meetings.
Adhere to fire safety and health & safety regulations and maintain necessary records.
Implement care frameworks including Signs of Safety, Restorative Approaches, and ELSA.
Promote equal opportunities and comply with corporate policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
Registration with Social Care Wales
NVQ Level 3 in Childrens Care, Learning and Development or equivalent
Essentials:
Experience working with children and young people in a care, education, or support setting.
Experience working within a regulated residential childcare environment.
Knowledge of residential childcare standards, safeguarding, and regulatory frameworks.
Familiarity with Social Services and Wellbeing (Wales) Act 2014, and other relevant legislation.
Should have a driving license
