Summary
The post provides opportunity for significant development of project management and leadership skills. Post holders will be supported by a designated consultant who will oversee their development as an educator during the placement and co-ordinate opportunities for personal development. A customised programme of training and educational experience will be designed around the needs of the individual. The chief registrar will also be supported to undertake a formal leadership course provided by the Royal College of Physicians. Hot-desk space and computer access is provided, with access to the Internet, PubMed and medical journals via Imperial College London library services. NB: No study leave funding is attached, but a bursary may be available to assist with postgraduate study. The clinical aspects of the role are based at St Marys Hospital where candidates will look after acute medical inpatients and take part in the acute medical on-call rota. They will work with a team of junior doctors and wider multidisciplinary team, under the supervision of consultant physicians. There will be opportunities for additional experience/training in Same Day Emergency Care and/or specialty clinics according to the post holders interests. The post is ideal for trainees in a specialty training programme who are keen to develop their leadership skills whilst continuing to develop their medical skills.
