Key Responsibilities To provide leadership to less experienced staff to ensure the development of best care practice and optimal outcomes for clients. To provide therapeutic and personal care to our client group. Promote the rights of clients to be treated with dignity and respect in every aspect of their lives Respect the confidences of clients, except where to do so would result in harm to a client, damage to the organisation or the commission of a criminal offence. Establish supportive relationships with clients and encourage the development of stable relationships between clients and other staff, and their families and friends and within the group of clients. Promote the emotional health and self-esteem of clients and support them through changes in living circumstances and personal relationships. Support clients in making their own choices and decisions to the maximum of their capability, and ensure that the needs and wishes of clients are fully considered in any decision relating to them. Ensure the protection of clients from significant harm, by exercising vigilance, observing changes in clients behaviour or appearance, and complying fully with the Vulnerable Adults policy. DAILY LIVING AND CLIENTS PLANS Assist clients with self-care skills including eating, drinking, washing, bathing, using the toilet or managing incontinence, dressing and undressing, mobility and transport, getting up and going to bed, and once trained, administration of medication. Participate in the development, implementation and review of placement & support plans for clients. Promote clients participation in, enjoyment and understanding of their religion, culture and first language Participate in the development, implementation and review of programmes aimed at enabling clients to manage their challenging behaviour, ensuring full compliance with clients individual behaviour support plans. Ensure that clients profiles and care files are updated and accurate and maintained. WORKING IN PARTNERSHIP Work in partnership with the families, friends & advocates of clients to promote their health, welfare and development, including escorting clients on home visits as required. Work in partnership with members of clients professional network to promote their health, welfare and development Work as a member of the unit staff team, co-operating fully and communicating openly with other team members. Act as transition co-ordinator by being responsible for liaising with relevant families, professionals. Act as liaison for Health Action Plans with the relevant social services and health departments with a view to support Transition plans. Provide leadership within de-escalation techniques and interventions when dealing with challenging behaviours displayed by some clients MAINTAINING THE UNIT Store and transmit information and maintain accurate records in accordance with ICG policy, and ensure that any information concerning the health, welfare and development of a client is accurately communicated to colleagues and managers. When requested act as the designed responsible Health and Safety person, thereby participating in the assessment of risk, reporting matters of concern to managers and complying in full with duties under ICGs Health and Safely policy. MANAGERIAL AND SHIFT LEADING Act as Shift Leader as and when required to do so, ensuring all duties are carried out to a high standard When in the Shift Leader role, allocate work to teams and individuals, agreeing objectives and work plans, assessing the performance of teams and individuals and giving appropriate feedback to individuals and management Maintain effective staff discipline, operating at all times within ICGs Disciplinary policy and procedures. STAFF DEVELOPMENT AND TRAINING Continuously reflect on own practice and seek to develop skills, making full use of supervision and participating in pre-qualifying, qualifying and post-qualifying training as required Support new staff during their induction periods and assist them to become familiar with their role and the needs of the clients, then feedback relevant and accurate information regarding performance to managers GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES Maintain a standard of dress that is appropriate to the role and in keeping with ICGs dress code. Undertake any other duties consistent with the post. Work in any other ICGs location as required
