Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Gearbox Builder to join our clients specialist garage located in Somerset. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in gearbox assembly and repair, with a focus on maintaining high-quality standards and delivering exceptional service to our customers. Ideally you will have experience with both manual and automatic but if you have 1 speciality please still apply
Key Responsibilities:
- Assemble, disassemble, and rebuild a variety of gearboxes according to manufacturer specifications.
- Perform diagnostic tests and inspections on gearboxes to identify problems or potential issues.
- Collaborate with mechanics and technicians to ensure accurate installation and repairs.
- Maintain accurate records of work completed, including parts used and any modifications made.
- Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean and organised work space.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and advancements in gearbox systems.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with clients about their gearbox issues and repairs.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures related to quality control and health and safety.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Gearbox Builder or similar role in an automotive or mechanical environment.
- Strong understanding of gearbox components, systems, and assembly processes.
- Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Formal training or certification in automotive technology, mechanical engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Good communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical issues to non-technical clients.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with various types of vehicles, including cars, trucks, and performance vehicles.
- Knowledge of hydraulic and electric gearbox systems.
- Additional qualifications or certifications related to gearbox technology are a plus.
