Job description
Martells have a fantastic opportunity for someone who is enthusiastic, friendly and reliable to join their successful team as an Apprentice Retail Assistant working in our department store in East Grinstead.
Duties will include;
Greeting customers who enter the shop
Assisting shoppers to find the goods and products they are looking for
Till operation
Navigation of the computer system
Stock replenishment
High standard of customer service
High standard of house keeping
Stock taking
Keeping up to date with promotions
Being responsible for processing cash and card payments
Reporting discrepancies and problems to the supervisor
Dealing with customer refunds
Keeping the store tidy and clean
To comply with the Health & Safety policy and company good working practices
To become an apprentice, you must:
be 16 or over
not already be in full-time education
As an apprentice you’ll:
complete a L2 Retail apprenticeship standard
have regular one to one sessions with a dedicated trainer either remotely or through visits to your workplace
learn and train for a specific job
get paid and receive holiday leave
get hands-on experience in a real job
study for at least 20% of your working hours
complete assessments during and at the end of your apprenticeship
be on a career path with lots of future potential

An apprenticeship is a real job where you learn, gain experience and get paid. You’re an employee with a contract of employment and holiday leave. By the end of an apprenticeship, you'll have the right skills and knowledge needed for your chosen career.
Levels of an apprenticeship
Each apprenticeship has a level and an equivalent education level. You can start an apprenticeship at any level.
At the end of your apprenticeship, you’ll achieve the equivalent education level. For example, if you complete a level 3 apprenticeship, you’ll achieve the equivalent of an A level.

Things to consider
Working in retail you are in a fast moving and sometimes physically demanding job.. Our store opening times are 9.30am until 5.30pm Monday to Saturday. The job requires you to be flexible and able to work 20 hours per week which will include weekend work. (1 in every 3 Saturday’s off and Sunday working only over Nov/Dec)

Once the apprentice has completed a minimum of 12 months training and the employer and Inspiro regional trainer confirm they have met all the requirements of the standard they will be put through to end point assessment.
