Summary

Are you passionate about public safety and have a sharp eye for detail? The Shay Stadium – home to FC Halifax Town and Halifax Panthers – is looking for an experienced and dedicated Ground Safety Officer to ensure the safety and security of all visitors, staff, and players on matchdays and during events.

The purpose of the Ground Safety Officer role at The Shay Stadium is to ensure the safety and welfare of all spectators, staff, players, and officials during events, particularly on matchdays. The post-holder will lead on the planning, coordination, and delivery of safety operations in line with statutory regulations, the Green Guide, and stadium safety certification. Key responsibilities include overseeing stewarding operations, conducting risk assessments, liaising with emergency services, ensuring compliance with safety legislation, and responding effectively to incidents. The role is critical in creating a safe, well-managed environment for all stadium users.

The ideal candidate will be a confident, proactive individual with a strong background in crowd safety or event management, preferably within a sports stadium environment. They will possess excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills, with the ability to remain calm under pressure. A thorough understanding of the Green Guide and relevant health and safety legislation is essential. The successful applicant must hold the Level 4 NVQ Diploma in Spectator Safety Management or have demonstratable experience and have experience managing teams in dynamic, fast-paced environments.

Flexibility to work evenings and weekends is also required.
