About the job.
Our Digital Services & Technology Procurement team are looking for a IT Category Commercial Manager to join their team. You'll play a key role in assisting with the protection of National Highways commercial and procurement interests, within a package of IT services, supporting it as a balanced, intelligent client.
But that's not all, you'll be responsible for the negotiation and commercial management of allocated large contracts and assist with the development of the market alongside relationship managing allocated National Highways suppliers.
The successful candidate will be based from any of our National Highways offices. We operate on a hybrid working basis with a minimum of two days per week in the office.
- Assist with the management, identification, securing, and leading of people from a range of disciplines to enable effective delivery of IT Commercial support to IT Commercial Procurement.
- Dealing with complex contracts and procurement documents and be able to provide guidance to others on their meaning and use.
- Assist with supplier cost savings targets, and initiatives delivered that increase efficiency whilst maintaining performance and risk management.
- Responsible for development, review, negotiation, execution of allocated contracts and the commercial management of related suppliers.
- Monitor, implement and report on compliance with contractual processes and project performance elevating issues where appropriate.
About you.
- Should hold or be willing to work towards the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) Diploma in Procurement and Supply qualification (or equivalent).
- Experience in assisting the delivery of procurement and commercial services in a large technology focussed environment.
- Understand, follow & apply the procurement process and policies.
- Work collaboratively across a range of stakeholders, with good communication, negotiation, and influencing skills.
- Corporate team leading experience and experience of working in high performing teams and motivating people.

External candidates will be offered a starting salary at the lower end of the pay scale, while current employees will be appointed in accordance with our established pay policy.
