Summary

The post is that of Consultant in Paediatric Dentistry, based at Liverpool University Dental Hospital The post-holder will be expected to participate in continuing dental education meetings and in quality improvement projects and is expected to work within the Trusts Governance frameworks. The post holder will have responsibility for carrying out teaching, examination and accreditation duties as required and contributing to postgraduate learning locally and nationally. The post holder will be expected to engage in their own continuing professional development and to provide continuing dental education for other staff. The post holder is expected to have a high level of knowledge and expertise in the field of Paediatric Dentistry and should have an innovative approach to patient care, teaching, management and leadership. The post holder will be expected to work under the line management of the Divisional Medical Director and Care Group Clinical Director of Liverpool University Dental Hospital. The post holder will be expected to liaise with colleagues in other medical and dental specialties in both Trusts as required. The post has an important role in teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate students. The post holder is responsible to the School of Dentistry to discharge this duty, with the award of the appropriate University of Liverpool honorary contract. The post holder will help to foster good relationships between the Dental Hospital and General Dental Practitioners, Community Dental Services and other health care providers. The post holder expected to provide treatment under inhalation sedation, intravenous sedation and general anaesthesia. The post holder will be expected to conduct new patient and treatment activity and provide consultant cover as and when necessary.
