Falkirk Council is offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced and visionary leader to join our Environment & Operations Service as Senior Manager (Roads and Engineering). This is a key strategic role responsible for overseeing the delivery of essential infrastructure services that directly impact the lives of our residents and the sustainability of our communities.
In this role, you will provide strategic leadership across the Council’s Roads Services, Engineering Design, and Transport Planning functions. You will be responsible for leading the delivery of a wide range of essential services, including roads and bridges design, road maintenance and operations, flood risk management, network management, roads development control, street lighting, winter service operations, emergency response, and all aspects of transport planning and coordination, ensuring they are delivered efficiently, sustainably, and in line with statutory and strategic objectives. Your leadership will be instrumental in managing significant capital and revenue budgets, driving innovation, and ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and standards.
You will work closely with senior officers, elected members, and external partners to shape and implement infrastructure strategies that align with the Council’s long-term goals. Your ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, manage complex projects, and foster a culture of performance and continuous improvement will be essential to your success.
We are looking for a candidate with a degree in a relevant discipline and membership of a recognised professional body. Strong communication, financial management, and stakeholder engagement skills are also essential.
This is a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact on the future of Falkirk’s infrastructure and transport services. If you are a forward-thinking leader with a passion for public service and sustainable development, we encourage you to apply and help us build a better Falkirk
