Summary

The Reaching Wider Team at USW are seeking to appoint a highly motivated individual who will be responsible for managing a portfolio of programmes for Reaching Wider’s priority audiences, working with young people and a range of partners in communities around South East Wales.

To develop, coordinate, and deliver widening access activities with young people aged 10–18 across South East Wales. The role supports the objectives of the Reaching Wider Partnership and institutional widening participation goals by engaging learners from underrepresented backgrounds and supporting their progression to higher education.

Based in Pontypridd, with some home working, the successful candidate will be expected to work across campuses and partnership HEIs when required. Please note occasional evening and weekend work may be required.

Reaching Wider is a Medr funded partnership programme which exists to widen access to higher education by tackling barriers to entry, progression and success in higher education. We achieve this through offering a suite of long-term interventions that support attainment raising, provide information, advice and guidance and assist progression to higher education and level 4 learning for targeted priority groups.

Our core values are:

Caring - Creating a culture where people feel valued, safe, heard, supported and respected.

Collaboration - Actively collaborating across our partner HEIs and externally for the mutual benefit of all.

Inclusion - Valuing and respecting the contribution of every individual, recognising and celebrating difference.

Reflection - Gaining insight on how to move forward by exploring and examining ourselves, our perspectives, attributes, experiences, actions and interactions personally and professionally.
