Summary
Behaviour Mentor - Secondary School - Islington
Long Term Futures are working with a forward-thinking secondary school in the borough of Islington to appoint a Behaviour Mentor to join the pastoral team in September 2025.
This large, inclusive school is known for its high standards, supportive senior leadership, and strong focus on early behaviour intervention and restorative practice.
The role will suit someone with experience supporting young people facing barriers to learning, particularly those with SEMH needs or behavioural challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide 1:1 and small group support for students displaying challenging behaviour or disengagement
* Assist in the de-escalation of incidents and re-integration of students back into learning environments
* Monitor academic progress and pastoral targets alongside teaching staff and Heads of Year
* Deliver mentoring programmes, daily check-ins, and behaviour-focused interventions
* Work with the school's safeguarding and pastoral teams to support wider student wellbeing
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
* Experience working with secondary students with SEMH or behaviour needs
* A calm, confident, and consistent approach to behaviour management
* Ability to build strong relationships with both students and colleagues
* A background in youth work, inclusion, PRU, or similar settings is highly desirable
Location and Transport - Islington, North London
* Excellent transport links via Angel, Finsbury Park, and Highbury & Islington
* Local bus routes include 19, 38, 43, and 263
* Easily commutable from Camden, Hackney, and Haringey
