SummaryWe’re looking for a Premises Officer to help keep our school safe, clean and well-maintained. You will be looking after the buildings and grounds of Harris Primary Academy Peckham Park, making sure everything is secure and ready for learning each day. Main Areas of ResponsibilityYour responsibilities will include:
Following health and safety rules and reporting any hazards or risks
Checking and cleaning academy vehicles (if trained to do so)
Helping teachers with practical tasks and classroom setups
Keeping the site secure, including locking gates and monitoring access
Reporting unsafe behaviour or anything that could be a safety risk
Carrying out repairs, decorating and general maintenance
Supporting and supervising contractors working on-site
Keeping the grounds tidy, including litter picking and emptying bins
Checking toilets for cleanliness and restocking supplies
Walking around the site regularly to keep corridors and outdoor areas clean
Helping move furniture for events or exams
Reporting broken lights, graffiti or damaged fixtures
Qualifications & ExperienceWe would like to hear from you if you have:
Basic knowledge of health and safety
Training or experience in plumbing, maintenance or heating systems
Understanding of how heating and ventilation systems work
Knowledge of building security and maintenance procedures
Experience supervising or supporting others
Knowledge of cleaning standards and methods
Experience working in a school or with young people
Strong DIY skills and hands-on experience
Physical fitness to the level required for lifting and manual tasks
The ability to spot and report building issues
The ability to manage stock and order supplies
Willingness to work evenings and weekends when needed
The ability to respond to emergencies outside normal hours
