The Role
You will support the team in line with the Positive Behaviour Support framework to train and offer guidance in supporting young people and adults who may show behaviours of concern. You will work with young people, curriculum teams, families and multi agency professions to ensure learners have access to the right support to engage and achieve in their learning programmes and college activities and services in line with their Educational Health & Care Plans (EHCPs).
You will be required to provide person-centred Positive Behaviour Support to learners with severe and complex learning difficulties and/or disabilities which may include supporting them with personal care where necessary. You will work with learners who have Behaviour Support Plans, be responsible for creating and reviewing these and support staff to implement appropriate strategies.
Skills and Experience
You will have good literacy and numeracy skills and have the ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with learners, teachers, parent/carers and, other agencies involved with the students. Experience of working in a multi-cultural environment and an understanding of safeguarding and discrimination issues and the difficulties faced by those with learning difficulties are essential.
You must be willing to assist learners who may show behaviours of concern and also who may require personal care. You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability establish good working relationships. You’ll also have exceptional organisational skills combined with good IT knowledge and sound administration skills. Experience of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and working with SEND learners in a secondary or FE environment is desirable.
