About the role

We’re looking for an experienced Wales Reporter to join our award-winning reporting team.

Based in South Wales, you’ll take the lead on stories across the region, from the Senedd and the courts to standout exclusives and
powerful human-interest stories. It’s a great opportunity to cover one of the UK’s most varied and news-rich patches, with stories
that matter to audiences both in Wales and across the UK.

You’ll be part of a fast-paced team that prides itself on being fast, fair, accurate and trusted.

Key responsibilities

* Deliver fast, accurate and impartial coverage of stories across Wales, including the Senedd, court cases, inquests and your own
exclusives.
* Work closely with PA’s video and photography teams, and file visuals yourself as required.
* Develop contacts across politics, legal affairs and the wider community.
* Use social media to spot breaking stories and identify exclusives.
* Coordinate with other regional reporters and support patch coverage as needed.
* Maintain strong relationships with local and national customers.

What you will need

* Strong reporting experience, ideally in a fast-paced agency or daily news setting.
* NCTJ qualification (or equivalent) with at least 100wpm shorthand.
* Up-to-date knowledge of media law and a solid grasp of Welsh and UK politics.
* A keen eye for a story and the confidence to pursue it.
* Ability to work flexibly and to deadlines.
* A full driving licence — this is a wide-ranging patch and travel is essential.

What we offer

* 5 weeks holiday plus 8 public holidays
* Car allowance
* Holiday purchase scheme
* Enhanced maternity, paternity and adoption pay
* 4% company pension contribution
* Annual wellbeing day and volunteering day
* Life assurance (4x salary)
* BUPA health cash plan (through salary sacrifice)
* Annual eyecare vouchers
* Employee Assistance Programme
