Summary

Job Summary – The NIHR Exeter Clinical Research Facility at the University are looking for a recent graduate to support the collection and management of patient samples and data for research delivery. You will have an interest in health research and acquiring skills required for successful research delivery. This role combines both laboratory and desk-based duties including: processing blood and other human fluid and tissue samples, data collection, processing and analysis, database development, assist with participant recruitment, and project coordination and administration. This role is part of the Graduate Business Partnership (GBP) scheme and offers full-time hours (36.5 hours per week) on a 12-month contract. You will be based in the workplace at the Research, Innovation, Learning and Development (RILD) building at Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital in Exeter with the option of working flexible hours between 8am-6pm. About You – You should be a graduate who has a degree in Biology or Biomedical Science or Medical Sciences or similar STEM subject, is able to work independently and be self-motivated, whilst being a dedicated team player, and has the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships within and outside the unit, with a sensitive awareness of team dynamics. You should be highly organised with good attention to detail, have an impeccable attendance record and highly reliable, have a proactive approach to problem solving, and a flexible approach to working hours. You should have an aptitude for quickly mastering new technologies and techniques, be able to work independently following standard operating procedures or work instructions, have project planning skills, be able to set and meet priorities, targets and deadlines, and have the ability to work and take direction from an established research team. You should have high computer literacy using Microsoft Office and some experience of using statistical software, be able to apply scientific principles to the role, some previous experience in a people/public facing role would be beneficial.
