More detail about the role The post holder would also be involved in supporting genetic research studies which would involve promoting, discussing and explaining the studies to potential participants, providing relevant information to the participants and undertaking consent for those wishing to be part of the research. Other roles within these studies would include reviewing patient records to establish eligibility, data entry, consenting, coordinating blood sampling and scan appointments, retrieving and recording blood samples, communications with participants to ensure study tasks are undertaken within the dedicated time frames and responding to participant queries as they arise. The post holder will also be required to communicate effectively with the study coordinating sites to resolve any queries or action any amendments. The post holder should be confident in their communications both face to face and digitally, and be efficient at managing their time and workload. The role is varied and will be split equally between the two areas. Work on the Generation study will be predominantly patient facing with the practitioner assisting with participant recruitment, collecting research data and samples. Clinical Genetics supports a large portfolio of studies. As a regional service participant recruitment is largely performed by Genetic Councillors and Genetics Consultants at routine clinic appointments. The post- holder will be based in Exeter to plan, implement, organise and manage concurrent research projects. S/he will coordinate the trials and deliver recruitment accrual in line with performance and monitoring objectives. IT skills including EXCEL and WORD are an essential part of this role as a large amount of time is spent collecting data on relevant patients. The post holder is responsible for the implementation and monitoring of clinical requirements associated with research to ensure optimum delivery of clinical trials. They will be expected to promote the studies within the Genetics team and screen existing databases for eligible participants. They are responsible for the care of research participants with a focus on providing a quality experience. The post holder will be expected to work across hospital sites in Exeter Working Pattern: 30 hours per week. Office hours monday - friday. Interview Date: 13/08/2025.
