Summary
About you:
We are looking for a proactive individual with a ‘can do’ attitude, who has the ability to use their own initiative completing reconciliations that underpin the council's financial transactions.
An AAT qualification and a good knowledge of financial accounting techniques and methods is required.
Experience of computerised financial systems and Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and data manipulation, is essential.
The ideal candidate must have good problem-solving skills and a drive to investigate discrepancies.
Good interpersonal skills and the ability to liaise with groups and individuals is essential to provide advice and support to colleagues across the Council in respect of insurance claims handling and finance system user support.
About the role:
This is a part time position as part of a small Finance technician team responsible for carrying out various reconciliations between the finance system and other systems for the council.
The finance technician team are responsible for logging all insurance claims received in the council and providing support for any insurance queries.
The team carry out Direct Debit runs, treasury management duties and finance system set ups, password resets and general user queries each week, and this role will take a share in that rota.

The finance technician role is an important role within the wider Financial Services team. Financial Services provides comprehensive accountancy support to services across the Council and its subsidiary companies.
The finance team are always striving to optimise our use of ICT to support Council wide services with developments that involve financial transactions to provide the most efficient service to both our internal and external customers.
