Summary
Coombe Farm is a dairy farm based near Ivybridge, South Devon with just over 300 acres of predominantly grassland with approximately 15 acres of fodder beet grown annually and 250 head split block calving pedigree Jersey cows plus beef and followers (600 head total) – cubicle housed, TMR fed.
With a recently refurbished 20:20 Rapid exit parlour – part of over £300k investment in facilities and infrastructure in last few years including handling facilities, robot silage pusher, dairy and parlour, tracks, fencing etc.
All milk processed in-house at award winning Creamery producing a variety of products under own brand and for major supermarkets including M&S, Waitrose, Morrisons and Aldi.

We have an exciting opportunity for someone keen to forge a career in dairy farming to join a dedicated team at Coombe Farm near Ivybridge, South Devon.
Coombe Farm have an ideal opportunity for someone to learn and develop their career in Agriculture whilst achieving the Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard as a Livestock Technician.
They are a friendly, dedicated team working to high standards and achieving industry leading results for mastitis, lameness, fertility, calf mortality etc.
The successful candidate will:
Be a motivated individual with a desire to develop, is quiet and considerate toward livestock, responsible and takes pride in their work
Not be adverse to milking – it’s a dairy farm! Training can be provided in all aspects – cattle husbandry, field work, machinery operation, general maintenance and repair
Hold a UK driving licence / own transport due to location – all on-site accommodation is currently occupied

The pay rate for this Apprenticeship is the National Minimum Wage for Apprentices (£7.55 per hour).
Entry requirements
Previous Agricultural experience is preferred.
Candidates may also be considered for a Level 2 General Farm Worker apprenticeship, however you must already hold Maths and English (Functional Skills Level 2).

You will be supported by an assessor throughout your apprenticeship.
As you progress through your apprenticeship your duties and responsibilities will alter as you develop the skills for a successful career in agriculture.

You will gain a Livestock Technician Level 3 qualification with further opportunities for training, development and permanent employment upon completion.
Things to consider
Due to the farm location, and unreliable public transport service, candidates will need to have a full UK driving licence and own transport.
