The Gynaecology department has an exciting opportunity to join our diverse and friendly admin and clerical team as a receptionist within our outpatient department. We are looking for an enthusiastic, welcoming candidate who can communicate well with patients, their relatives and a wide range of mutli-professional staff, internal and external to the trust. We require a friendly and organised member of staff to join our already established team providing excellence and demonstrating PRIDE values
This is a 30hour contract which will require some flexibility in a working pattern to ensure the service is covered between 8am and 6pm Monday to Friday.
As post holder you will:
• Be a member of a large dynamic admin team and will provide an essential first point of contact between the hospital, patients and their relatives, and diverse staff groups including clinicians, nurses and administrative teams.
• Deal efficiently and effectively with direct and indirect patient contact.
• Be able to work well autonomously and as part of a team.
• Have the ability to manage multiple conflicting demands and prioritise tasks.
• Demonstrate and maintain knowledge of Trust and National policies.

• To provide a support service to the technical, secretarial, medical and nursing staff of the Department
• To carry out receptionist duties, including prioritising and arranging appointments and maintaining the various appointment systems, identifying test requests and investigations, and co-ordinating the various clinics within the department
• To deal with patients and external and internal staff enquiries in person or via the telephone, in a courteous and confidential manner and provide assistance as required
• To ensure patients safety and well-being in the waiting area prior to them being called for their appointment and alerting appropriate staff to any cause for concern
• To keep a log of telephone requests for investigations in line with department policy, prioritising these and ensuring messages are conveyed to the appropriate technical staff
• To ensure appointment lists are maintained and prepared in readiness for clinical work
• To obtain and prepare notes in readiness for clinics, investigations or at the request of staff within the department
• To maintain a record of the transfer of notes to and from the department
• To understand the 18 Week Pathway, input the correct RTT codes and validate the patient pathway where appropriate
• To liaise with Secretaries and other departments within the Trust as necessary to ensure case notes, x-rays and referrals are available for every patient attending an
