As our Facilities Technician, you’ll be the go-to person for all things maintenance keeping everything in good working order, solving problems, and ensuring our home is a safe place to live and work.
Role: Facilities Technician
Location: Heathlands Care Home, 2B Hatch Lane, Chingford, London, E4 6NF
Salary: £15.58 per hour
Hours: 40 hours per week, with flexibility required for occasional out-of-hours or on-call support
This is a hands-on role full of variety and responsibility. From fixing a leaky tap or checking fire alarms to liaising with contractors and keeping our gardens tidy, no two days are the same. You’ll be essential to the smooth running of our home and the wellbeing of everyone in it.
What you’ll be doing:
- Carrying out day-to-day repairs and planned maintenance throughout the home
- Managing health & safety and ensuring all areas are safe, secure and well maintained
- Performing regular fire and smoke alarm checks and responding promptly to any faults
- Conducting routine inspections of the building, equipment, drains, bathrooms, windows, etc.
- Keeping clear and accurate maintenance records
- Liaising with external contractors and overseeing on-site works where needed
- Ensuring pathways and gardens are tidy, safe and free from hazards
- Making small improvements or decorations to keep the home looking its best
- Working closely with the Home Manager and Head of Facilities to prioritise tasks
What you’ll bring:
- Practical experience of general property maintenance and repair
- Basic skills in plumbing, electrics, decorating and general DIY
- A strong sense of responsibility and pride in your work
- Great time management skills and the ability to work independently
- A proactive and flexible approach ready to roll up your sleeves and get stuck in
- An understanding of health and safety and a willingness to learn more
