Are you a nurse looking for a new challenge? An excellent full time opportunity has arisen in the busy Radiology Department at The Great Western Hospital in Swindon. The role is currently 37.5 hours per week working 7.5 hours Monday to Friday.

This role will be part of the expanding CT Cardiac service, you will also be required to assist in interventional and diagnostic procedures undertaken in fluoroscopy, ultrasound and CT.

The Radiology department consists of 2 interventional rooms, 2 fluoroscopy rooms, 7 general x-ray rooms, 5 ultrasound rooms, 3 diagnostic CT scanners, 2 MRI scanners and a nursing recovery bay. The department is always expanding and we would love you to join us in this expansion! Full clinical training and support will be provided.

1. Plan, deliver and evaluate compassionate nursing care to meet the patients individualised needs.
2. Ensure the highest standards of care and safety are maintained.
3. To support the nurse in charge with the day to day planning, the delivery of a high quality nursing service and the continuous improvement of that service.
4. To independently telephone pre assess patients for a variety of interventional procedures. This includes a role in assessing their suitability for the intervention, ordering appropriate tests and giving of appropriate advice.
5. To administer prescribed intravenous drugs to patients before and during an interventional procedure as appropriate. This includes acting as sedation assistant, administering and closely monitoring IV sedation, ensuring comfort and safety.
6. To ensure effective communication is achieved and maintained of sensitive information, with regard to the patient assessments and clinical details.
7. To prepare equipment for the safe care of the patient and assist Radiologist during sterile interventional procedures as scrub nurse.
8. To act as a role model, ensuring high quality, professional standards are maintained and delivered at all times.
