A Radiotherapy Dosimetrist is a medical professional that provides technical support in the field of Radiotherapy. Dosimetrists will generate treatment plans, manufacture immobilisation devices, and assist with dosimetric measurement to provide optimum treatment for patients.

An exciting opportunity presents itself to join the Radiotherapy Treatment Planning team at University Hospitals NHS Trust, Coventry. The candidate should have a Level 6 qualification (e.g. BSc. (Hons)) with a successful completion of an IPEM accredited training scheme. The candidate will be enthusiastic, motivated, and dynamic with strong communication skills and willingness to work in a multi-disciplinary team.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Dosimetrists, Clinical Scientists, Radiographers and Clinical Oncologists and will be able to demonstrate a range of highly technical skills which are invaluable in the treatment of those suffering from cancer. The candidate will primarily work in treatment planning, mould room, brachytherapy.

Successful applicants will be required to provide an immunisation and vaccination report, from either their current UK occupational health provider or their UK GP.

• Genertating treatment plans, both 3dCRT and VMAT/IMRT.
• Producing patient immobilisation devices.
• Manufacture of patient aids for the purpose of radiotherapy, including sheilding and build-up materials.
• Brachytherapy theatres including use of ultrasound, and the treating of patients.

1. To discuss aspects of patient treatment with clinicians and scientists and technically interpret patient treatment related information from clinicians and radiographers with regard to Treatment Planning and Virtual Simulation, Mould Room, Dose Measurement, Brachytherapy and Radioisotope therapy.

2. To ensure that adequate care and well-being of the patient is taken into account and reassure and under supervision advise patients attending for Radio-isotope treatment, Brachytherapy Treatment and the Mould Room.

3. Treatment Planning

3.1. To assist, under supervision to determine and process patient outlining for dose prediction and produce dose predictions for the routine treatment planning of patients using Computer Aided Design software. To use technical judgement to produce the optimum treatment plan from a range of options.

3.2. To calculate treatment machine settings for dose delivery.

3.3. To maintain records of all outlining, treatment planning and calculations.
