Summary
We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Newport to assist with the appointment of a HWRC Operative, on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: £12.85 - £16.32 per hour
Summary:
Newport City Council is seeking a responsible and proactive Landfill Litter Picker Operative to work within the Environment & Public Protection Service Area, specifically in the Waste and Cleansing team. The role is focused on maintaining cleanliness and operational efficiency at landfill and composting sites through litter picking, traffic control, and waste acceptance. The successful candidate will work in outdoor environments, follow health and safety guidelines, and represent the Council professionally.
Responsibilities:
Monitor and enforce site rules for users, reporting any transgressions to management.
Manage site traffic and access control per instructions.
Ensure correct placement of signage and maintain tidiness and cleanliness of the site.
Empty, relocate, and monitor bins and skips to prevent overflow and manage container usage.
Undertake other duties within the scope of the role as directed by management.
Requirements:
Experience working outdoors in all weather conditions.
Ability to work independently and make dynamic risk assessments.
Previous experience in a similar environment.
Experience dealing with residents/customers.

You should be available to work immediately or at a short notice.
You should have right to work in U.K
