Community Adaptations Officer (Scale 5)
Description
The Community Adaptations Officer (Scale 5) plays a critical role in enhancing community resilience and promoting sustainable practices to adapt to changing environmental and social conditions. This position involves collaborating with various stakeholders, including local government, nonprofits, and community organizations, to develop and implement initiatives that support adaptation strategies tailored to community needs. The officer will assess current community vulnerabilities and identify opportunities for resilience-building through innovative programs and projects. A key aspect of this role is engaging with community members to raise awareness about adaptation challenges and promote participatory methods for gathering input and feedback. The Community Adaptations Officer will also analyze data to track progress, evaluate project effectiveness, and ensure alignment with broader environmental policies and goals. Responsibilities
Collaborate with local stakeholders to identify community adaptation needs and priorities
Develop and implement community-based adaptation initiatives and programs
Conduct assessments to identify vulnerabilities and capacities within the community
Facilitate workshops and community meetings to engage citizens in adaptation planning
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of adaptation projects and initiatives
Prepare and present reports on project outcomes and community engagement efforts
Promote awareness and understanding of adaptation issues through educational materials and outreach activities
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in environmental science, community development, or a related field
Proven experience in project management or community engagement
Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess data and generate reports
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with diverse stakeholders
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Knowledge of sustainability practices and climate change adaptation strategies
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in managing multiple projects
Hours Per Week: 36.00
Start Time: 09:00
End Time: 17:00
Pay Per Hour: £16.00
