Depute Head Teacher
Victoria Primary School

Salary: £71,181 - £71,181
Hours: 35 per week

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Depute Head Teacher at Victoria Primary School.

Victoria Primary School is a non-denominational school and part of the Trinity Learning Community in the Northwest of the city. Our school roll is approximately 336 children organised across 13 classes from P1 - P7. There is a nursery which has a mixture of full-time and part-time places and an Early Years Hub for 2-year-olds.

The school is led by a leadership team of a Head Teacher, a Depute Head Teacher, and a part-time Business Manager. Opportunities for devolved leadership are available to teachers and support staff to facilitate the implementation of the School Improvement Plan.

There are two part-time Support for Learning Teachers. The leadership team is ably supported by a School Administrator, Clerical staff, a team of Pupil Support Assistants and a Facilities Technician.

At Victoria Primary School we promote a love of learning by providing a nurturing, inclusive environment where all feel valued and respected, and our pupils have every opportunity to thrive. We are committed to working in partnership with our parents and the wider school community to ensure our children reach their full potential.

The successful candidate will be a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual who has excellent knowledge of first and second level. We are looking for someone with leadership and management experience and a proven track record of providing high quality learning and teaching to raise attainment and close the attainment gap.

The successful candidate will:

  • Work as part of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to take forward school initiatives and the school improvement plan.
  • Work within the SLT to facilitate improvements in attainment, attendance, and equity.
  • Be a key part of the school's Self-Evaluation and Quality Assurance work.

At Victoria PS we consider mutual trust, understanding and partnership to be important in helping to make a child's experience here both happy and successful. We set high standards and expectations for all our learners and each member of our team's support with this is vital. We look forward to welcoming a new member of our team to join us on our improvement journey.

Interviews for this position will be held middle of August.

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.

Salaries will be in accordance with the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education.

We're committed to creating a workplace culture where all our people feel valued, included and able to be their best at work, and we recognise the benefits that a diverse workforce with different values, beliefs, experience, and backgrounds brings to us as an organisation.

As part of our goal to improve our organisational culture and create a great place to work together for the people of Edinburgh, we want to make sure that we're bringing the best people into our roles, not just in their skills and experience but also in their approach to work.
