Pastoral Officer - SEMH & Safeguarding Support | Alternative Provision | S41 Chesterfield | Immediate Start
Long Term Futures are looking for a compassionate and proactive Pastoral (Safeguarding) Officer to join a highly supportive safeguarding team based at an Alternative Provision in Chesterfield (S41). This rewarding role is ideal for someone with a genuine commitment to child protection and student wellbeing. Working across sites, you'll provide crucial safeguarding support for vulnerable learners, helping to create safe, stable, and inclusive learning environments.
What you'll be doing
- Supporting students at risk by identifying safeguarding concerns and coordinating appropriate interventions
- Managing a flexible diary including home visits, welfare checks, and site-based support
- Liaising with families, external agencies, and internal teams to build strong, effective support networks
- Monitoring attendance patterns where they link to safeguarding issues
- Supporting the Designated Safeguarding Lead with multi-agency work and case management
- Attending safeguarding meetings and maintaining accurate, confidential records
- Building trusted relationships with pupils and staff to support early identification of risk
Who we're looking for
- Experience supporting children with SEMH, SEND, or behavioural needs in education or care settings
- Strong safeguarding knowledge and understanding of Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE)
Excellent communication skills and emotional resilience in challenging situations
- A calm, consistent, and empathetic approach to supporting young people
- Confidence working with external services (social care, early help, etc.)Access to your own vehicle with business insurance (essential - mileage reimbursed)
