Shaping Young Minds Through Phonics

This is a vital full-time opportunity for a Primary Teaching Assistant at a "Good"-rated primary school in North Surrey. You will provide dedicated support to Year 1 pupils, focusing on phonics and early reading skills, collaborating with teachers to foster foundational literacy in an inclusive environment. This ongoing position has strong potential for permanency.

Your Role: Key Contributions to Early Literacy

As a Primary Teaching Assistant, your key contributions will include:
- Providing direct classroom support to Year 1 pupils, either one-on-one or in small groups, with a strong emphasis on phonics interventions and activities.
- Assisting with the delivery of phonics lessons and reinforcing learning through engaging activities.
- Promoting positive behaviour and encouraging social skills development.
- Boosting pupil confidence and promoting independence, particularly in their reading and writing.
- Liaising effectively with teaching staff, offering insights into pupil progress in phonics, and assisting with lesson preparation.

What We Require: Essential Qualifications & Skills

To thrive in this role, you'll need:
- Demonstrable experience as a Primary Teaching Assistant.
- Experience supporting children in Early Years (EYFS) or Key Stage 1 (KS1), with specific experience or a strong interest in phonics instruction.
- The ability to calmly and effectively manage various classroom situations.
- A valid enhanced DBS check or the willingness to obtain one.
