Summary

Trainee Paraplanner | York & Malton, North Yorkshire | Full Time | £22,000-£30,000, depending on experience and qualifications

Our client is an established Financial Advisory firm with offices in York and Malton, committed to delivering high-quality, client-focused financial planning services. They are currently seeking a knowledgeable and proactive Trainee Paraplanner to join their close-knit team and support the advisers in delivering tailored, compliant, and effective financial advice.

As a key support role within the firm, the Trainee Paraplanner will work closely with financial advisors to provide technical and administrative assistance in the development and delivery of tailored financial advice to clients.

This is an office-based role across both our York and Malton offices, offering variety and the chance to be closely involved in client advice processes.

Are you the right person for the job?

• Already working towards or willing to work on achieving Diploma or Certificate in Financial Planning
• Previous experience in financial planning administration or a paraplanning role is preferred
• A knowledge of or willingness to learn about regulated products: pensions, investments, protection
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Highly organised and able to manage multiple tasks under time constraints
• Client-focused team player with strong attention to detail and initiative

What will your role look like?

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed Suitability Reports for a wide range of financial planning areas, including pensions, investments, bonds, trusts, IHT planning, and drawdown strategies
• Conduct thorough research and analysis to ensure appropriate, client-aligned recommendations
• Attend occasional client meetings to gather information and assist advisers in shaping advice
• Liaise with product providers and clients to ensure cases progress efficiently
• Support advisers with ad hoc tasks and administrative functions when required
• Maintain workflow efficiency, meet deadlines, and uphold high compliance standards
• Shadow the Director to gain deeper insight into financial planning and business operations

Typical Day-to-Day Tasks

• Writing Suitability / Reasons Why Letters
• Preparing Annual Review Letters
• Compiling research and analysis for recommendations
• Managing investment actions (e.g., Bed & ISA, phasing investments)
• Responding to client queries and liaising with providers
• Assisting with administrative tasks when required
