Summary
SEND Learning Support Assistant (The Leaf)

The Governors, staff and children at Lewis Street Primary School are looking to appoint a highly skilled and nurturing Learning Support Assistant to work in our onsite Enhanced Resource Provision for children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) Needs.
All children deserve the very best and we are looking for a professional who has a passion for supporting children with Educational, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and complex special educational needs alongside the class teacher, Leaf Team and SENDCO. We are very proud of our inclusive ethos and want an LSA to support inclusion of our learners in the Leaf and in the mainstream classes whilst being committed to our school values of EXCELLENCE; RESPECT; CHALLENGE and SELF-BELIEF.
The successful candidate will:
- Have experience of working with SEMH pupils in Early Years, Key Stage 1.
- Support pupils to access learning in and out of the Leaf classroom and their mainstream classes (when appropriate) with the ability to reflect on their own practice.
- Have an excellent understanding of how SEMH needs present and have strategies to support these needs.
- Have a secure understanding of behaviour and the importance of relationships.
- Be creative and can support the engagement of learning in the classroom
- Be able to inspire and motivate children
- Work in partnership with parents/carers and other members of staff to promote the well-being and educational progress of each pupil
- Work in partnership with external services such as Educational Psychologists, Primary Inclusion Team (PIT) and Speech and Language to implement advice, work on targets, review progress and set next steps.
- Be an excellent and positive communicator with both children and adults.
- Work well within a team, contributing to the shared ethos and values of the school and partnership.
