Run by The Piece Hall Charitable Trust, this grade 1 listed building is the only remaining Georgian cloth hall in the world and welcomes more than 2 million visitors a year.

About the Job Role

Reporting to and working with the Operations Manager, the Duty Managers are responsible for the smooth running of The Piece Hall's daily operations. You will ensure that the building and facilities deliver all the expectations of a world class visitor destination conducting effective security and maintenance processes, and delivering excellent customer service to our tenants and visitors.

The Duty Managers will work on a shift-based pattern. Whilst on duty, you will confidently lead the cleaning, security, and maintenance arrangements across the site. This role is hands-on and practical, with cleaning and maintenance being an essential part of a Duty Manager's daily activities. You will also act as 'eyes and ears' for The Piece Hall Trust, regularly taking overall operational responsibility for the building and it's activities.

Main Duties

Opening and closing the building.
Following health and safety compliance procedures and updating records.
Ensuring that all public areas such as the courtyard, visitor centre, entrance gates, perimeter and toilet facilities are consistently maintained and presentable.
Monitoring activity across the site by being an active presence and responding to any issues that arise, including the monitoring of CCTV. (licence preferred).
Acting as a a fire marshal and designated first aider.
Taking the lead in managing any alarms, incidents or emergencies, and to report these incidents in line with appropriate procedures.
Liaising with emergency services where needed.
Being knowledgeable in safeguarding and acting accordingly in circumstances that arise.
Responsible for general housekeeping.
Acting as a knowledgeable ambassador of The Piece Hall.
