Newydd Housing Association is a charitable housing association, that offers nearly 3,000 affordable homes for rent and sale to people where need is at its greatest in Mid and South Wales, working in several local authority areas.
Newydd Maintenance Ltd is built on an in-house contractor model, designed to drive quality customer services, whilst achieving substantial planned growth and expansion, potentially outside of the group. Newydd Maintenance Ltd is a subsidiary company which provides maintenance services to Newydd Housing Association.
About the role
Reporting to our Commercial Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the commercial functions of the Maintenance team which delivers a £7m + budget per annum. You will also assist in ensuring budgets are run in an efficient and cost-effective manner across our direct labour workforce and our preferred supply chain.
About you
As our plans grow, we will encourage you to grow. We will help you to build your skills, so you will be a valued member of our high performing Commercial Team. As well as a structured on the job and soft skills training programme you will be funded and supported to complete your relevant degree course if not already done so, and to become RICS, CIOB or CIBSE professionally qualified. You will have excellent career prospects and on successful completion of the programme there will be an opportunity for progression to the role of Project Surveyor with a salary range of £42,440 to £44,673pa.
You will have achieved (or be on target to achieve) a minimum 2:2 degree in a construction related subject. You will have first-rate communication, organisational and team-working skills and a full driving licence. You must be able to demonstrate genuine passion for the role together with a commitment to on-going learning and personal development. Whilst structured learning is key, you will also have the opportunity to get stuck in and show us what you’re made of from the start. The ability to be proactive and work on your initiative is therefore crucial.
The Graduate Project Surveyor position is a busy, varied, and challenging role and you must be able to demonstrate great analytical knowledge and be an effective communicator and team player with excellent IT skills. Knowledge of procurement of works, project management and contract administration is essential for the role, along with great time management skills.
