Summary
You will be working amongst a team who assess applications for the Housing Needs Register for social housing and then allocate the property’s that become available for social rent.
You will be using the Housing and Allocations policy 2023, which is available to the public on the Canterbury City Council website, to make your decisions.
The team work closely together to make sure that cases are progressed and customers are responded to as quickly as possible.

About this Level 2 Cases Services Officer job:
Here’s what you’ll be doing:
Processing applications for social housing, updating the customer portal with all information and actions required.
Customer contact via the phone and at times face to face to asist if required.
Maintaining digital records diligently.
Gathering the required information to progress the case.
You will do this face to face, on-line and over the telephone.
You will carry out some basic investigation on information provided in order to support the decision you make on the case.
There will be progression to learning how to allocate social housing in accordance with our policy
You will work a rota system, giving you varied duties
You will be given regular update training.
Working pattern:
This is a permanent role, working fulltime, which is 37 hours per week.
You will work Monday to Friday, excluding bank holidays. You will need to be able to work from 9am to 5pm. Due to the nature of the role there is sometimes a need to stay on to deal with an issue after 5pm but you will receive the time back.
We offer a generous annual leave entitlement! You’ll receive 23 days annual leave, plus bank holidays, PLUS 3 given days which are used over the Christmas period when our main offices are closed.
You will be working with a friendly team who work a hybrid system of time in the office and home working.
About you, the ideal Level 2 Case Services Officer for the job:
You will have the following;
Knowledge:
An awareness of social housing and some of the current issues that are experienced in this sector.
Working with case management system (we use Huume)
Experience:
Of working with people who are vulnerable or experiencing a period of difficulty.
Of following a process ensuring each part is completed.
Skills:
The ability to demonstrate professional curiosity and maintain boundaries
Able to interpret a policy and apply it to real life situations
The ability to think creatively to problem solve.
Able to work with autonomy as well as being a team playe
Resilience to work in a fast-paced environment.
The ability to work with impartiality and fairness.
Qualifications:
Good standard of Maths and English at GCSE grade 4 or above or equivalent work-related experience.
Due to the nature of this role, the successful applicant will be required to undertake a standard DBS check as part of their pre-employment clearances.
