The post is based at the Charing Cross site of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. It is for 12 months in the first instance as coverage for Maternity leave. It is an excellent opportunity to join an established team of 14 Diagnositic neuroradiology consultants (12 whole time equivalent, WTE) and 6 WTE Interventional Neuroradiologists.
The post holder will require a CCT in clinical Radiology and will have subspecialty experience in neuroradiology.
The successful candidate will provide expert neuroradiology input for inpatient and outpatients within the trust and wider NWL sector. This will include patients within the tertiary neuroscience centre, major trauma centre and hyperacute stroke services. An interest in paediatric neuroimaging would be welcomed and there is an opportunity to be involved in the spinal intervention service as appropriate.
Candidates with appropriate accreditation who wish to work only part-time or on a sessional basis are encouraged to apply, as are applicants interested in job-sharing.
The successful candidate will work alongside established colleagues providing both inpatient and outpatient care. There is a trust wide emphasis on helping our acute medical and surgical colleagues provide high quality care, with appropriate, efficient and timely imaging of patients reporting both to the emergency department and during their hospital stay. In addition, there is subspecialist outpatient reporting including the opportunity to be involved in more advance imaging techniques including perfusion imaging, tractography.
The post-holder will be expected to an active participant in multi-disciplinary meetings covering the breadth of neuroscience sub specialities.
They will part-take in a 1:12 on call diagnostic neuroradiology on call rota.
All the diagnostic neuroradiology team are actively involved in training of radiology specialist trainees and subspecialty fellows.

Applications are invited for a locum consultant diagnostic Neuroradiologist. This post has arisen due to maternity leave. It offers an excellent opportunity to join an established team of 12 whole time equivalent (WTE) diagnostic Neuroradiologists and 6 WTE Interventional Neuroradiologists.
ICHNT is a tertiary referral centre for complex neuroscience patients providing sub-specialist neurology and neurosurgical services. There is a large established hyperacute stroke unit (HASU) and a major trauma centre (MTC). The department provides a 24-7 thrombecotmy service and works closely and collaboratively with other trusts in the North West London sector and supra-regionally in North London and the adjacent Home Counties.
The successful candidate will have completed sub-specialist training in diagnostic neuroradiology and will be expected to substantially contribute to the neuroradiology reporting workload. Efficient and safe handling of inpatient and emergency workload, are key priorities. The work can also include advanced CT and MR imaging in the form of physiological perfusion imaging, diffusion tensor imaging.
There will be opportunities to contribute to the paediatric neuroradiology and spinal injection services.
The successful candidate will be expected to make a significant contribution to training as well as to work with the divisional team to help manage the service effectively. There is a strong focus on training, and our radiology training scheme is highly regarded, with just over 65 trainees currently in post, many in sub-specialty training. The appointee will also be expected to play an active role in trainee supervision and close liaison with clinical staff.
The post will be based at the Charing Cross Hospital and St Mary’s Hospital sites.
The applicants must hold a CCT in Clinical Radiology (or equivalent) and be on the GMC Speciality Register, or be within 6 months of being granted a CCT.
