Summary
We have a Band 6 Occupational Therapist (1.0 WTE) opportunity in our specialist Acute Stroke Rehabilitation and Neurosciences Team across the Newham University Hospital (NUH) site. We are looking for a dynamic individual with excellent clinical and communication skills, who will foster multi-disciplinary relationships and team working.
You will be supported by a team of highly experienced Clinical Leads and Band 7 Highly Specialist Occupational Therapist on site as well as peer network (cross site including Royal London Hospital, St Bartholomew’s Hospital, Whipps Cross University Hospital) and education and research leads across the trust.
The NUH Therapy Team is dynamic and creative, working closely with colleagues from other disciplines to deliver high quality, patient-centred care. Excellent career opportunities are provided by newly created practice development OT, well established Quality Improvement team and educational academy providing excellent link to university base modules for career progression.
We offer you opportunities to work across the following areas:
• Acute Stroke Unit
• Neuro-Outlier Service
• o Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' physical abilities, neurological conditions, and rehabilitation needs.
• o Develop tailored treatment plans, utilizing evidence-based techniques and therapeutic interventions.
• o Deliver one-on-one and group therapy sessions to enhance patients' mobility, coordination, strength, and overall function.
• o Collaborate closely with other healthcare professionals, including Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Nurses, to provide holistic care.
• o Monitor and evaluate patients' progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes.
• Provide education and support to patients and their families, empowering them to actively participate in the rehabilitation process.
• o Contribute to the development of departmental policies, protocols, and research initiatives
• Requirements:
• o BSc or MSc in Occupational Therapy, or equivalent qualification.
• o Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
• o Experience in Stroke and Neurology rehabilitation, demonstrating advanced clinical knowledge.
• o Proven ability to conduct thorough assessments and formulate individualised treatment plans.
• Experience in mentoring and supporting junior staff is advantageous.
