Summary

Applications are invited from enthusiastic and dynamic candidates for this exciting, demanding and rewarding post which entails working with pupils and their families from Cantonian and each of three partner primary schools (the “Cluster”).
The role involves building better relationships between school, families and cluster primary schools, taking steps to get to know families, helping to address attendance issues and encouraging and supporting parental engagement in their children’s learning. This will include:
• Encouraging effective dialogue between parents and teachers about children’s progress and how that progress can be supported at home
• Providing available resources to support the enrichment of home learning
• Promoting the self-esteem of parents to help them maximise their own personal and interpersonal skills, which will enable them to respond to their family’s needs by communicating openly and providing good parenting
• Providing accessible routes through which parents can express their views and be consulted on specific issues
• Sharing information on practical childcare and parenting skills, identifying the need for support, including how to meet the emotional needs of children, for example setting boundaries and consistent discipline
• Providing opportunities for peer support groups for parents
• Promoting and facilitating opportunities for adult and community learning
• Making a range of communication methods available, appropriate to the family’s needs and preferences
• Keeping records and documentation related to meetings or contact with children and their families (in accordance with GDPR/Data Protection regulations)
