Summary

We are recruiting an Intensive Supervision and Surveillance Officer at Caerphilly County Borough Council.

Working hours: 2 hours per week
Contract Type: Permanent
Location: Working hours can be split between home and office depending on specific task requirements.

This is an exciting opportunity to join Team Caerphilly and provide support across the wider Youth Offending Service.

We pay an attractive salary of £14.36 - £15.58 per hour and offer access to training and development opportunities.

A vacancy has arisen for a permanent job share post with a minimum 8 hours per month. The contract is to undertake predominantly weekend working, however, there will also be a requirement to cover bank holidays and potentially some evening work if necessary. Therefore, the post holder may be required to work additional hours above the minimum 8 per month. The post holder will be based from home with a minimum of one hour each Saturday and Sunday involving telephone contacts, home visits and activities in the community.

The position is for an Intensive Supervision and Surveillance (ISS) Officer within Blaenau Gwent and Caerphilly Youth Offending Service (YOS) who will be part of the Court and Community 1 Team. The successful candidate will need to have experience and knowledge of working directly with children and families with the ability to demonstrate strong engagement skills.

Intensive Supervision and Surveillance is a requirement that can be added to a Youth Rehabilitation Order (YRO) and provides robust supervision in the community to prevent further offending, whilst also providing support to a child to develop new skills and constructive leisure activities.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to fill this permanent job share vacancy and to support the overall aim of the YOS in reducing offending by children. Therefore, you will need to demonstrate an ability to engage children and make a positive impact with the work you will be delivering as part of our multi agency YOS. In achieving these aims, you will work closely with families to address the factors leading to offending.

You will be required to contribute to accurate and timely electronic records in accordance with Youth Justice Board’s National Standards. Therefore, IT skills are essential for this role, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Interviews will be held on the 06.08.2025. No alternative date for interview can be offered.

For the role, we ask that you have:

1. 5 GCSE (Grades A* to C) or equivalent Level 2 qualification on the Credit and Qualifications Framework for Wales
2. Knowledge of the Youth Justice System
3. A Full UK Category B (Cars) driving licence and the use of a motor vehicle insured for business purposes to travel throughout the borough to visit service receivers, attend meetings

We have excellent benefits including the Local Government Pension Scheme, agile working patterns and staff discount schemes.
