Summary

Lighting Technician (LX2)

ATG Productions seeking a skilled and dedicated LX2 (Lighting Technician) to join the team on a Sunny Afternoon, with music and lyrics by Ray Davies and book by Joe Penhall, based on an original story by Ray Davies, directed by Ed Hall.

As an integral part of the lighting department, your role will involve working closely with the Associate Lighting Designer and LX1 to bring the production’s lighting vision to life.

Key Responsibilities:

Collaborate with the Associate Lighting Designer and LX1 to execute the lighting design and production requirements for each performance.
As required, operate lighting desk during technical rehearsals and performances, ensuring a smooth and professional show each time.
Assist in relighting the show for different venues, adapting to each location's technical specifications.
Participate in the load-in process (starting from Tuesday morning before the first performance) and get-out following the final performance at each venue.
Deputise for the LX1 as required during the tour.
Ensure all lighting equipment is set up, maintained, and operated safely and effectively in line with production requirements.
Key Skills and Experience:

Proven experience as an LX2 or in a similar lighting technician role, ideally in a touring theatre or large-scale production environment.
Strong technical skills in operating and maintaining lighting equipment, including rigging, focus, and cueing.
Familiarity with industry-standard lighting control systems (Specifically ETC EOS) and other lighting hardware.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team, while taking initiative when required.
Excellent time management skills and the ability to work under pressure during tight schedules, especially in fast-paced changeover environments.
Flexibility and adaptability, with a willingness to travel and work in different venues on a regular basis.
A commitment to health and safety practices within the workplace.
Previous experience in touring productions is highly desirable.
Additional Requirements:

A positive attitude, strong communication skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
A willingness to commit to unsociable working hours as is common in touring roles.
Ability to work in a physically demanding environment and carry out tasks such as rigging, lifting, and moving lighting equipment.
Good understanding of responsibilities under BS7909 and BS7671 is preferred.
The Contract will run for around 9 months until the end of May 2026.

Applicants must have experience on a touring production in a similar role.

The successful candidate must be available for all performances and rehearsals.

Start Date: 29th September 2025

Contract Type: UK Theatre/BECTU Agreement.

Weekly Fee: Above UKT minimums.
