Summary


Assistant Psychologist Paid Internship



Are you anethnically diverse aspiring Clinical Psychologist who might otherwise be financially disadvantaged by volunteering schemes?Are you looking to develop the skills and knowledge required to apply to the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology?



An exciting opportunity has arisen for one one-year fixed term Assistant Psychologist Internship to gain experience as an Assistant Psychologist within Greater Manchester Mental Health Adult mental health services in Manchester. The successful applicants will work as part of the psychological service provision within North View In-Patient Psychology team in Manchester. They will be involved in a recently formed team that is providing groups and individual work to service users and helping staff and in-patient services become more psychologically informed.



Data suggests that the ethnic diversity of undergraduate university psychology degree courses better reflects the ethnic diversity of the population in Greater Manchester (21.3%) as opposed to the Clinical Psychology workforce (9.6%).

As part of a collaboration with NHS England Education, Workforce and Training, we are offering a paid internship opportunity for ethnically diverse aspiring clinical psychologists who might otherwise be financially disadvantaged by volunteering schemes. These are time-limited internship opportunities of 1 year that intend to minimise and overcome that disadvantage.

Job summary



The successful applicants will support the work of the Psychology team at North View hospital in Manchester. They will work under the supervision of a qualified Psychologist and with the operational support of senior management.







Main duties of the job



To work as part of the psychological service provision within the inpatient services in North Manchester. This will involve, under the supervision of a qualified Psychologist, completing assessments, psychological formulations and interventions with service users, their families and staff. They will facilitate psychologically informed groups with colleagues. The successful applicants may be involved in service development and audit relating to the Psychology service.
