About EdStart
EdStart Specialist Education is a leading provider of SEN and Alternative Education. With nine schools across Greater Manchester and the Wirral, we support young people with a variety of social, emotional, and physical barriers to learning including SEMH difficulties, Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, and childhood trauma.

The Role
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Headteacher to lead our three school sites in Salford. You will ensure high-quality education for students with SEN and SEMH needs, supported by our Senior Leadership Team and Executive Headteacher.

Key Responsibilities
-Strategic Leadership
-Lead and embed a shared vision aligned with EdStart’s values.
-Develop and implement strategic plans for the schools.
-Monitor and evaluate school improvement and use data to drive progress.
-Build strong relationships with parents, professionals, and local authorities.

School Management
-Line manage senior leaders and support effective performance management.
-Oversee budget and resource allocation for the schools.
-Foster staff development through targeted CPD.
-Ensure full compliance with safeguarding and regulatory frameworks.

Teaching & Learning
-Lead the development of a broad, inclusive curriculum.
-Promote high-quality, evidence-based teaching for all students.
-Foster a collaborative culture and share best practice.
-Implement robust assessment systems and timely interventions.

Safeguarding & Wellbeing
-Champion a culture of safeguarding and mental wellbeing.
-Ensure staff are trained to support students’ emotional needs.
-Lead safe, responsible, and inclusive practices across all sites.

Person Specification
-Qualifications
-QTS and a relevant degree.
-NPQH desirable.
-SENCO qualification or experience desirable.

Experience
-Proven leadership experience, ideally within SEN/SEMH settings.
-Knowledge of independent school standards.
-Strong staff development and line management background.
-Experience teaching and supporting students with complex needs.

Skills & Knowledge
-Strong data analysis and target-setting skills.
-Deep understanding of SEN/SEMH curriculum development.
-Budget management and financial efficiency skills.
-Excellent communication and leadership skills.
-Commitment to inclusive education and positive student outcomes.
