Location: Leytonstone, East London
A well-resourced and creative secondary school in Leytonstone is looking to appoint a dedicated Design & Technology Technician from September 2025 on a temporary, term-time only basis. This is a great opportunity for someone with practical skills and a passion for supporting hands-on learning in a school environment.
You will work closely with teaching staff to support the delivery of DT lessons across areas such as Product Design, Resistant Materials, and Graphics, ensuring that equipment, tools, and materials are prepared, maintained, and safely used by students.
Key Responsibilities:
•
Prepare materials, tools, and equipment for DT lessons
•
Maintain, clean, and organise machinery and tools (e.g., saws, drills, 3D printers)
•
Assist in lessons, including demonstrations of tool use and safety
•
Monitor stock levels and order consumables
•
Ensure all health and safety protocols are followed, including risk assessments and COSHH compliance
The ideal candidate will:
•
Have experience in a workshop, DT department, or similar practical setting
•
Be confident using hand tools and machinery (training can be provided)
•
Be well-organised, safety-conscious, and proactive
•
Work effectively both independently and as part of a team
•
Hold (or be willing to obtain) an enhanced DBS
