We require an experienced interim to cover the post of ESOL Curriculum to lead & manage the ESOL curriculum area team to ensure the continual delivery of high quality adult and community learning and be responsible for overseeing the development and delivery of an innovative and quality assured ESOL curriculum offer that contributes to the priorities of funders and Haringey council, which also meets local needs.
We require someone who has significant experience of ESOL and curriculum leadership, someone who understands funding and AEB funded provision, someone with a creative flair and vision, who sees ESOL in the wider context; as a skill required to become an active citizen, and support individuals engage in society and achieve employment goals. We need someone who can immediately lead on the effective delivery of ESOL provision, ensuring that the curriculum offer meets the needs of: local residents, council priorities, regional agendas and national strategies and is driven by service quality improvement processes, creative curriculum design and will support the continual improvement in the quality of education, whilst monitoring, developing and ensuring the curriculum offer meets the requirements on the Education Inspection Framework.
Role Purpose
To lead & manage the ESOL & Wellbeing curriculum area team to ensure the delivery of high quality adult and community learning and be responsible for overseeing the development and delivery of an innovative and quality assured ESOL curriculum offer that contributes to the priorities of funders and Haringey council, which also meets local needs.
Main Responsibilities
1. Lead on the effective delivery of ESOL & Wellbeing provision, ensuring that the curriculum offer meets the needs of: local residents, council priorities and is driven by service quality improvement processes and meets the requirements on the education inspection Framework.
2. Design and deliver the service’s ESOL curriculum offer in conjunction with the principal, quality manager and key local partners to best meet the needs of local residents, ensuring a good breadth of offer which demonstrates added value, employability and core skills development.
3. Ensure that the provision complies with the conditions and requirements of the greater London Authority (GLA). The education & Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) and any other funding bodies and that performance targets are achieved.
4. Keep abreast of national, regional and local agendas, policies and ensure that the curriculum offer is regularly updated to reflect changes to policy, plans, frameworks and funder expectations
Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Knowledge
• Understanding of the national and regional adult and community education strategies, including local regional and national plans for skills, employment, health and other areas that impact residents/learners relating to their progression routes to employment and further learning
• Strong understanding of sector norms and funding/ governmental expectations
• Understanding of the EIF and Ofsted framework, processes and systems used in inspections and related to quality assurance mechanisms
• Good working knowledge of Haringey Council’s corporate plan, opportunity Haringey and the priorities to which Haringey Learns contributes
• Awareness of finance & budgets and the implication on service delivery
Qualifications
• Level 5 or above Teaching qualifications (eg: CertEd, PGCE C&G 7407 or DTLLS)
• OR minimum of a full level 4 teaching qualification (eg: C&G 7407 stage 2, CTLLS.)
• OR educated to degree level with considerable management experience (minimum of 5 years) in Adult and community education or the FE sector
• Level 4 ESOL qualifications, subject specialism
