What skills and experience we're looking for
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced, enthusiastic and caring Early Years Practitioner to join our team. This Early Years Practitioner post is based in the Children’s Centre at Sharrow School – within an innovative school building which incorporates purpose-built childcare provision for children from 3 months all the way through to 11 years.
The Children’s Centre is open from 8am and 5pm throughout the year (except at Christmas) and prides itself on offering a flexible provision to meet the needs of parents – with some children doing 2 or 3 mornings or afternoons a week during term-time, others doing a mixture of full and part-days and some attending full-time on an all year-round contract.
This is an all year-round position as the Children’s Centre team are also responsible for running the Sharrow After School Club for the children in Reception and Nursery, as well as the Holiday Club provision for children from across the school (Children’s Centre through to Year 6). Holiday entitlement therefore has to be taken in term-time rather than during the school holidays.
We are looking for someone who:-
• Has a sound knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum and knows how to meet children’s individual needs
• Can plan, monitor and evaluate child-care practices to maintain high standards
• Is able to work in partnership with parents, building and maintaining open and transparent relationships
• Can develop quality experiences which respond to the needs of children and families
• Is adapt at using effective strategies to support children with special education needs and children with language needs
• Is committed to our inclusive ethos and excited about the opportunity to work with older children as well as our under 3's.
