Summary
We are currently recruiting Band 2 Healthcare Support Workers to join Hutton Ward, a 27-bedded ward, providing person-centred care and rehabilitation for patients with an orthopaedic need. The ward focuses mainly on providing care for patients who have sustained injuries to their bones and require either surgery or rehab.
As a valued member of our multidisciplinary team, you will work alongside Registered Nurses and other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality care and support to patients. Your role will include assisting with personal care, helping patients with mobility and nutrition, and providing reassurance and dignity during their hospital stay.
Working Hours: 37.5hrs per week (full time) or 24 hrs per week (part time)
You will be working on an inpatient ward, and you will be required to work long shifts (12 hrs) which include days/nights, weekend and Bank Holidays.
This is physically demanding role, assisting patients who may have poor mobility, and you will be on your feet for long periods.
This is an emotionally demanding role and requires you to adapt quickly to the constantly changing clinical demands on an acute inpatient ward.

As a Band 2 HCSW, you will play a key role in delivering compassionate, patient-centred care, ensuring the privacy, dignity & well-being of patients. You will care for male and female patients, including providing intimate personal care.
You will work under the supervision of the senior nursing team, receiving the guidance and support needed to deliver high-quality care.
Your Responsibilities:
· Providing personal care to adult patients, including washing, toileting and continence care, while maintaining their privacy and dignity.
· Assisting with nutrition and hydration, ensuring patients receive the support they need with meals.
· Helping with mobility, including repositioning and providing pressure area care to promote comfort and prevent complications.
· Offering emotional support to patients and their families, recognising the importance of kindness and reassurance in their care journey.
· Providing one-to-one observation for patients at high risk due to their clinical condition, ensuring their safety and well-being.
· Maintaining a clean and safe ward environment, playing a vital role in infection prevention and fall reduction.
· Escorting patients to other departments, such as X-ray, ensuring they feel supported throughout their care experience.
