We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Green Space Strategy & Cemeteries Manager to lead a multidisciplinary team of technical officers and administrative staff. This pivotal leadership role which oversees the strategic delivery of services including:
Bereavement and Cemetery Services
Ecology and Landscape Architecture
Rights of Way and Allotments
Green Space Events and Visitor Services
Strategic Site Development
You will manage statutory processes, oversee contractors and projects, and ensure services are delivered efficiently, on time, and within budget. You’ll also be responsible for securing and managing external grants and developing new income streams.
Key responsibilities include leading and supporting a team delivering a wide range of environmental and community services, managing revenue, capital, and grant budgets across multiple service areas, providing expert advice to the public, elected members, and senior managers, developing and implementing strategies to improve service quality and performance, and representing CCBC in regional forums, contributing to national consultations and policy development.
The successful candidate should have proven experience in managing multidisciplinary teams and complex service areas, strong knowledge of green space management, ecology, planning, and public engagement and excellent project and financial management skills.
For the role, we ask that you have:
1. A relevant Level 6 (Degree) qualification on the Credit and Qualifications Framework for Wales
2. An ability to develop and deliver strategic plans and performance improvements
3. Experience in managing contractors and resolving contractual issues
