Summary

Strategic Head of Safeguarding and Wellbeing

Championing safety, therapeutic practice, and whole-school wellbeing This is a unique opportunity to join a values-driven, specialist education provider as a key member of our senior leadership team. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced safeguarding professional with therapeutic insight to lead and embed a culture of safety, trust, and emotional wellbeing across our multi-site provision. The Strategic Head of Safeguarding and Wellbeing will play a pivotal role in shaping our safeguarding strategy, overseeing the work of our social workers and therapeutic practitioners, and acting as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL). You will work closely with senior leaders, governors, and external agencies to ensure the highest standards of safeguarding and child protection, with a focus on relational, trauma-informed practice tailored to young people with SEMH, ASD, and complex needs. If you bring a deep understanding of children’s social care, a collaborative leadership style, and a commitment to therapeutic education, we’d love to hear from you.

Location: Raise Education & Wellbeing School, Bolton (multi-sites)

Responsible to: Executive Headteacher/Governing Board

Line Management: DSL Deputies, Social Workers, Wellbeing & Therapeutic Staff

Member of: Senior Leadership Team (SLT)

Salary: £50,397 £54,703 (actual salary £47,000-£51,000 depending on experience)


Person Specification

Essential: Qualified and registered Social Worker (SWE) At least 2 years’ experience in management or leadership role Strong understanding of safeguarding law and statutory frameworks

Skilled in multiagency working and child protection case management Excellent communication, supervision, and decision-making skills

Full Driving licence, and car available for work


Desirable:

Experience in an SEMH or specialist education setting Supervision qualification or trauma-informed training Experience of Ofsted or regulatory inspections
