Summary
Reporting to the Assistant Head of Health, Safety and Environment Management, as the DNO Health and Safety adviser you will:
Provide competent Health & Safety support, guidance, and advice to DNO staff based at MOD Main Building, (London), Abbey Wood (Bristol), AWE (Aldermaston/Burghfield) and other work locations.
Deliver the DNO Health & Safety assurance programme including audits and inspections, working with other DNO safety and environment leads as required, and contribute to maturing and managing the total safety assurance programme for DNO.
Develop and maintain the DNO Safety and Environment Management System while maintaining awareness of MOD safety policy.
Operate Health & Safety accident and incident reporting mechanisms and review management information, conducting investigations in a timely manner and acting on lessons learned.
Support delivery of an effective Health Safety and Environmental Protection communications plan to improve overall culture and reduce workplace accidents.
Play a key role in the DNO Health, Safety & Environmental Protection Committee, driving effective governance of issues, challenges and risk.
Regular office attendance is required to support face to face collaboration and/or attendance required at committees/forums linked to the role. Some tasks throughout the year will require periods of greater office working due to the classification of systems required.
