Main ResponsibilitiesClinical Responsibilities Provide cervical screening (smear tests) and sexual health advice. Administer childhood and adult immunisations, travel vaccinations, and seasonal flu jabs. Conduct wound care, dressings, suture removal, and other treatment room procedures. Perform ECGs, venepuncture, and NHS Health Checks. Provide contraception advice and support as trained. Manage and deliver nursing care for patients with long-term conditions such as diabetes, asthma, hypertension, and COPD. Assist in minor surgery and other GP-led procedures. Contribute to infection control and cold chain compliance. Health Promotion Deliver culturally sensitive lifestyle advice on smoking cessation, weight management, sexual health, and alcohol/substance misuse. Engage with hard-to-reach and vulnerable patient groups to improve access to care. Promote self-management of chronic conditions and provide patient education tailored to the needs of the local population. Practice Development Participate in Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) monitoring and data entry. Maintain accurate, up-to-date clinical records using EMIS Support clinical audits, safeguarding processes, and care planning. Attend and contribute to practice and multidisciplinary team meetings. Professional Requirements Registered Nurse (Adult) with current NMC registration Experience working in primary care or a similar community-based setting Confident in managing chronic diseases and delivering immunisations and screening Understanding of the health challenges faced in inner-city or deprived communities Cervical cytology training Independent or supplementary prescribing qualification Additional qualifications in long-term condition management (e.g., asthma, diabetes, COPD) Knowledge of local services and referral pathways Skills and Qualities Compassionate, culturally aware, and non-judgemental Ability to manage complex caseloads and work under pressure Strong communication and patient engagement skills Organised, flexible, and a good team player Committed to continuous professional development and improving care quality Note: The role may involve home visits, participation in extended hours clinics (e.g., evenings or weekends), and working with multidisciplinary teams including social care, health visitors, and mental health services
