Summary


You will be an integral member of both the Paediatric Diabetes MDT and paediatric dietetic team, providing high-quality, person-cantered care to patients with diabetes. With recent advances in medical technologies, this is an exciting time to work in the specialty of diabetes. You will be supported by band 7 dietitians and will work closely with the friendly team of diabetes specialist nurses and consultants.

Ideally you will have experience in diabetes or paediatrics although training can be provided, and a development post would also be considered for the right candidate.You should be able to demonstrate the ability to work within a changing environment and provide evidence of ongoing professional development relevant to this post.You will participate in regular personal development reviews and have access to professional training. You will be actively involved in regular trust wide audits.

The department is an established trainer for, P2 and P3 placement dietetic students. You will be actively involved in training these students, and you will also provide training for a variety of health professionals.

Candidates must be a qualified dietitian, registered with the HCPC and committed to promoting nutrition to improve health within the local area.

You will provide education to paediatric patients with diabetes and their families. Your caseload will include MDT clinics as well as dietitian led clinics and group education sessions. You will be required to develop skills in carbohydrate counting and insulin pump therapy. There will also be some general paediatric work within this post to maintain/ develop skills in paediatric dietetics.
